The BBC has revealed the death of a toddler due to a fatal cyber attack.
The incident, which occurred at around 3am on Sunday, saw the boy’s mother, a former school nurse, being unable to access the internet for more than three hours.
She was able to retrieve some of her files and her laptop but not all.
The BBC is reporting that the mother had been in a hospital for treatment for the condition, which she is now in stable condition.
A spokesperson for NHS England said the organisation had not received any reports of any patients in immediate need of care.
The internet outage had left the family unable to get on with their lives and the mother and daughter were in “deep distress”.
We are working with the authorities to determine the full extent of the disruption and will be in contact with the family to offer support.”
